Social virtual reality (social VR) is an emerging technology that has the potential to support unique social experiences for groups of older adults. In this paper we explore use VR group reminiscence, activity been shown have a positive impact on lives We developed School Days, bespoke application enables geographically dispersed adults meet in environment reminisce about their school experiences. conducted user study over course 5 months with 16 participants aged 70--81 evaluate how Days supported reminiscence. paper, focus reminiscence scaffolding features impacted adults' ability participate more fully activities. Our results illustrate value connecting distance, and contribute new knowledge environments can be designed scaffold reminiscence; techniques such as 3D conversation starters individual artefacts used pre-recorded holographic stories (Avacasts) introduce perspectives prompt self-reflection. five design reflections aimed at guiding future tools VR.
